Members of the Pleasant Hill - Rocky Community Club will meet this Thursday, January 22nd, at 6:00 p.m., to decide how to distribute the funds raised at last fall’s Smorgasbord, the club’s annual benefit dinner. Thanks to generous donations and the enthusiastic participation of area residents and visitors, the event brought in over $3,700.
As has been their custom for many years now, members will vote to make donations to a variety of local and national organizations that serve the public interest. In the past, the club has made donations to the North Blanco County EMS, the Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department, the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department, the Blanco County Youth Council, the Johnson City Library, the Blanco Library, the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Wellness Center, and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. In addition, the club has contributed money to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
Visitors are always welcome, and membership, which is free, is open to everyone living in or near (or just interested in) the Pleasant Hill – Rocky Creek area. The Club meets in the historic Pleasant Hill - Rocky School Building, which is located about 7 miles west of Johnson City, just off Highway 290 West, on CR 205 (Rocky Road).
