Eagles Go 2-2 For This Week

The LBJ Eagle varsity boys basketball team played four games this past week, 3 of them in the annual LBJ tournament and ended up winning 2 of the 4 games to improve their record to 3-4. The Eagles started the week with a victory over the Center Point Pirates by a score of 46-36. The Eagles had to come from behind after being down by 4 points at halftime. They outscored the Pirates 25-11 in the second half to gain the win. Jaxon Riebesehl and Jade Cones led LBJ with 14 points each followed by Chase Klaerner with 10 points. Cones led in rebounding with 11 followed by Klaerner with 10 and Wade North with 6. In the first round of the LBJ tournament the Eagles defeated Our Lady of the Hills school out of Kerrville 53-13. The Eagles had 8 players score led by Klaerner with 12, followed by Will Rutherford and Cones with 10 points each and Aiden Berry and Riebesehl with 7 points each. Rutherford led the team in rebounding with 10. The Eagles took on the always tough San Antonio Lutheran Mustangs in the second round of the tournament and fell short 53-42 in a very exciting up tempo game. In the third place game LBJ played another thrilling up and down the court, fast paced game against the Luling Eagles. LBJ fell behind by 7 points going into the final period but were able to cut the gap to two points in the final minutes before falling 63-54. In the Lutheran game Cones was the high scorer with 14 points followed by Rutherford with 12 and Riebesehl with 10 points Cones led in rebounding with 12 followed by North with 6. In the Luling game the Eagles once again had 3 players in double figures with Riebesehl scoring 19, Cones 18 and Klaerner 14 points. Cones led in rebounding with 12 followed by Klaerner with 11 boards. This week the Eagles will play just one game. They will take on Our Lady of the Hills at 5:00 on Friday, December 7 at the LBJ High School gym. Please come out and support the LBJ Eagle boys basketball teams.
