Blanco County farmers and ranchers are reminded the sign-up for the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payment (SURE) program for the 2011 crop year began in late October and runs through June 7, 2013. “Many farmers and ranchers in this County suffered losses because of the devastating drought in 2011,” said Adrian Schulze, Blanco County Farm Bureau Director. “Eligible producers are encouraged to visit the local Farm Service Agency office to learn more about the program.” Schulze said the SURE program provides financial assistance to farmers and ranchers who suffered crop losses from natural disasters occurring through Sept. 30, 2011. After that date, the SURE program was not continued. Crop losses after that date are ineligible for program coverage. For more information and eligibility requirements, contact the local FSA office or www.fsa.usda.gov/sure.
