Homecoming Win For The Eagles

At Friday night’s Homecoming game the Eagles were able to win their first game of the year with a very exciting finish. Sophomore quarterback Will Rutherford completed at 15-yard touchdown pass to Junior Preston Workman with 51 seconds on the clock. This made the score 20-20 and Senior Jaxon Riebesehl kicked the extra point for the win. The Bobcats were able to move down the field but the Eagles did keep them out of the end zone. The Bobcats attempted a field goal, but it was short. The first quarter was scoreless, but the Eagles were behind at half time 13-7. The second period score was a 34-yard touchdown pass from Rutherford to Junior tight end Aaron McKennis, point after was good by Riebesehl. Even tough the Eagles had only one score in the first half they were able to get 100 yards rushing the ball behind some good blocking by the offensive line. One the line were Senior Lee Moore, Senior Joey Krabe, Junior Mason Harrell, Senior Dayton Danz, and Senior Clayton Haley. Rutherford also completed a touchdown pass was in the third quarter and it was good for 40 yards to wide out Riebesehl, kick was good. The passing game was good for 210 yards and the rushing was for 175 yards. Workman had 130 rushing yards, Sophomore Jake Rassett had 35 yards and Junior Oscar Alvarado 8 yards. Senior Chase Klaerner had 64 receiving yards. The defense also had a good game, recording 5 plays for loss yardage. Junior Gavin Walker also got credit for an interception. The Eagles will play this Friday night when they travel to Center Point to play the Pirates.
