Lady Eagles Volleyball Still Going Strong

The Lady Eagles faced off with Medina last Tuesday night but fell in three games, 21-25, 17-25, and 22-25. The ladies had long rallies and fought hard which saw some nice offense.Meredith Neely was the leading hitter with 9 kills. Kourtney Smith also had another solid performance with 17 assists. Whitney Wood was the leading passer with 7 digs for the evening. Kaitlyn Hubbard did a great job utilizing her jump serving and earned 3 serving aces for the Lady Eagles.

Last Friday night the ladies hosted a non-district game against Harper and played well against the powerful Harper LadyHorns. The 3 set match score was 18-25,18-25, and 8-25. The ladies fought very hard against this team which consisted of long rally points back and forth never giving up! Kaitlyn Hubbard was the top hitter for the evening with 6 kills coupled with Kourtney Smith’s 12 assists. Jessie Rios showed her consistency in the back row once again with 9 digs. Meredith Neely also helped on defense with 4 kill blocks. The Lady Eagles will face Utopia and Leakey this upcoming week - come and support them!!

The junior varsity team remains undefeated in district after their victory against Medina Tuesday night. Scores were 25-27, 25-14 and 25-22. "These girls continue to amaze me with their determination to win and their ability to come from behind," said Coach Smith. "It is definitely a team effort with no one player dominating the court." Tori Mahar and Lily Masters continued to push out some awesome sets, but they also did a great job defensively. Kiley Wood and Taylor Kay made some critical kills while Lydia Yachimski had some great moves at the net. Katelyn Barrientes and Brianna Rose were pulling up some incredible digs from the back row and Hailey Hernandez contributed immensely from the serve line. Their next match is against Harper at the LBJ gym on Friday night. Come out and support your Lady Eagle volleyball teams.
