The Johnson City Quilters’ Guild meet Thursday January 24th at the Good Shepherd Church. Our new president is Janie Moreland, Denise Mabry is the Vice President and Charlotte Matthews is the secretary.
Several projects for this New Year were discussed and will be decided next meeting. Janie introduced the monthly project, “kitchen quilts” those who wish to participate will make a 9 patch little quilt.
We admired a member’s first quilt, a heart wall hanging, a heart pillow and the beginnings of a “Sealed with a Kiss” quilt.
Chris Axtell invited all to attend the first Monday of the Month sewing group. They will be making quilts for girls in shelters. The ladies meet at the Methodist Church in the old fellowship hall at 9:00 and sew until 2:00. If you have just a few hours Chris will find something for you to do.
A wonderful donation quilt was shown to us. It was hand pieced using 1920s fabric.
Betty McNallen donated the top and Janice Thompson did the very skillful hand quilting. This quilt is a fund raiser for the Johnson City Library and will be on display at the library until the Spaghetti Dinner and Bingo evening on March 3. Tickets for the quilt are $5.00 or 5 for $20.00.
Our next meeting will be at the Good Shepherd Church on February 28, at 7:00.
