The 7B Lady Eagles triumphed over Lago Vista for the second time this season, with a 9-2 victory on Thursday night. Alicia Guerrero led the team with 4 points. “The girls worked together as a team for this win,” Coach Trujillo said. Anna Lamar and Ashtyn Portie did a great job on defense, and Jackie Henriquez and Hailey Bickley were the top rebounders.

The JC 7A lost another close contest to Lago Vista, 23-25, in their sixth district game. Mya McMillian once again was the top offensive player with 15 points. Alexis McDougall and Kacie Regino were cited for solid rebounding efforts, and Avery Stueler and Amber Bray contributed outstanding hustle. Slone Wenmohs did a nice job of leading the team as the point guard and controlling the ball.

“The whole game was back and forth, and it could have gone either way. We threw away the ball too many times on press break but the 7A Lady Eagles are improving every week and always give it their all,” Coach Trujillo said.

The LBJMS Girls 8th A Basketball team suffered a tough loss to Lago Vista Thursday evening. After starting the game off keeping things close, we just couldn’t match up with their size and speed. Emily Matjeka did an outstanding job of driving to the basket and Kaitlyn Arvesen had a great game rebounding. Although their record may not show it, the team is continuing to improve their game. They should be proud of the effort they made and keep their heads up.

POINTS: Emily Matjeka-3; Jazmin Aguilar-2; Kailey Ockman-2; Karli Metcalf-2; Cassie Braun-2; Kaitlyn Arvesen-1.

The 7B Lady Eagles easily defeated the visiting Ingram Warriors, 38-12 on Monday night. JC dominated on both offense and defense. Alicia Guerrero had an outstanding offensive game with 16 points. Anna Lamar, Ashtyn Portie and Jackie Henriquez all chipped in 6 points each.

“The girls played their best game of the season. They did a great job on fast break and made some really good passes. We are proud of them,” Coach Trujillo said.

The 7A Lady Eagles played another hard-fought game and ended up tied with their rivals from Ingram, 21-21, at the end of regulation. The entire was back and forth. Mya McMillian was once again the top offensive player with 16 points. Kacie Regino added 3 points, while Avery Stueler and Amber Bray both scored a bucket.

“Our 7A team played with heart the whole game. We had a chance to win at the end but got tied up in the paint. We played some really strong defense after the first quarter and did a better job of breaking the press,” Coach Trujillo said.

The LBJMS Girls 8th A Basketball team lost a hard-fought game to the visiting Ingram Lady Warriors Monday night 14 to 20. Both teams played very physical and the game easily could have gone either way. In the end, Ingram came away with the victory. Alyssa Rose had her best game offensively and Emily Matjeka and Cassie Braun both contributed great defense. The team will be travelling to Comfort on Thursday, January 31st, for their final game of the season.

POINTS: Alyssa Rose-7; Emily Matjeka-3; Kailey Ockman-2; Karli Metcalf-2
