Major Accident on 71

On Friday January 18th at 5:31pm, North Blanco County EMS was dispatched to State Highway 71 near the Blanco County line for a major traffic accident involving 4-vehicles and 7 patients, along with Round Mountain VFD and Johnson City VFD.

The initial 911 calls advised 1 vehicle was on its roof and at least 1 person was pinned in. Due to the location of the incident, Spicewood VFD-EMS and Marble Falls EMS from Burnet County were also dispatched to the incident to assist, while Travis County 911 operators also dispatched Pedernales Fire Department and Austin/Travis County EMS.

NBCEMS assigned 2 ambulances and 1 supervisor to the incident and Marble Falls Area EMS, Spicewood VFD-EMS and Austin/Travis County EMS each assigned 1 ambulance. The 5 ambulances and 1 EMS supervisor along with multiple fire apparatus quickly arrived on scene and evaluated the 7 patients.

After NBCEMS arrived on the scene, all patients were off of the scene and enroute to area hospitals in just 17 minutes, with the first ambulance leaving with 2 patients just 8 minutes after arrival.

North Blanco County EMS transported 2 patients by ground, Austin/Travis County EMS transported 1 patient by ground, and Travis County StarFlight transported 1 patient by air. The remaining 3 patients were evaluated and treated on scene by North Blanco County EMS, Marble Falls Area EMS, Spicewood VFD-EMS and Pedernales FD but refused further care. Thankfully, there were no fatalities on the scene.
