Robbin Koehler is the new Nurse Practitioner at the Ramsey Clinic. She was hired October 1st, 2012 and has since been establishing herself as a valued and dependable alternative to a visit with Dr. Ramsey. Ms. Koehler graduated this past May from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a license as a Nurse Practitioner. Before, she had worked ten years as a registered nurse in the emergency room at the Seguin hospital, served as a clinic nurse at Texas State in San Marcos and as a nurse at McKenna Memorial (now Christas Santa Rosa Hospital) in New Braunfels.
Robbin resides in Seguin and is married to Dean Koehler. They have two children-a 3 year old daughter and a seven year old son. They are considering a possible move to Johnson City in the future.
Ms. Koehler trained with Jovanna Hubbard at the Blanco Regional Clinic and it was Ms. Hubbard who recommended her to the Ramsey Clinic. As a Nurse Practitioner, Ms. Koehler can diagnose, prescribe medications, care for those with chronic and acute illnesses and tend to injuries. She can also help those who suffer from anxiety and depression, but for those with more serious mental illnesses, such as those with bipolar disorders or schizophrenia, she will refer to Dr. Ramsey or a specialist.
She plans to start a Well Woman program which would provide services like well woman exams and birth control consultations. She also concentrates more on preventative care, taking into account a patient’s entire health situation and helping them plan choices that encourage a healthier lifestyle.
She is trained to promote health and prevent disease through comprehensive healthcare and education. She will sit down with a patient and discuss their health issues and provide individualized programs to help the patient deal with their health problems. In any instance where she feels the doctor must be consulted, she will go to Dr. Ramsey for his opinion.
