JCISD hosted our 2023 Summer Youth Track Camp last week. JC (incoming) Students K-6 Grades attended and had 20 youth register. "We met last Tuesday and Thursday, introducing youth to the sport of Track Field," said Juaquin Rodriguez, JC LBJ Cross Country Coach. "The program sought to model Sportsmanship, Character Traits of being a Good Teammate, and Competition.
One can’t talk about the origins of Lights Spectacular without thanking Norma Honeycutt, Rosie Danz, and Rhonda Stell. Danz was the 1990 JC Chamber President at the time and said, “Norma Honeycutt made this possible, and we’re so blessed she joined our community.” Honeycutt was a newcomer and Garden Club President in 1990.
JCISD Trustees held a Special Meeting on Monday, September 27th at 5:00 pm in the Administration Building. President Matt McKennis called the meeting to order, and a quorum was established. There were no public comments. Trustees discussed the purchase of a school bus, and voted 6-0 to approve the purchase in the amount of $105,300 for a new 72 passenger bus.
A large crowd attended the Wild Game Dinner on Saturday. Attendees enjoyed a variety of food, live music, live and silent auctions, raffles and more. The annual event supports the county stock show participants.
More than 1,000 Blanco County residents have contracted COVID-19 since the pandemic began, but a county health official told the News on Monday that the recent surge is starting to stabilize. “As of Monday, 1,265 people in our county have contracted COVID-19, which is more than 10 percent of our population,” said Blanco County EMS Chief Ben Oakley, who is the county’s health authority.
